A big vineyard spread over several soil types gives the estate room to select, and it has been rebuilt steadily since the early 2000s. The common mistake is assuming Margaux always means light and floral. Lascombes carries a serious proportion of Merlot and tends to sit darker and denser than the appellation's reputation suggests.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe range divides two ways. Chateau Lascombes is the grand vin. Chevalier de Lascombes is the second wine from the same estate and the same team, drawn from different plots and younger vines, built to be approachable earlier.
