What a Moscato d’ Asti released after 3 years? Yes this is the only Moscato d’Asti which can age, harvested from over-ripe grapes, with a great minerality aged for five years before release. With ages it develops aromas of sage, mint, honey, apricots and petrol. Match it with Fois gras and aged ripe cheeses. Only 1000 bts produced. As the name implies, Boido's Vigna Vecchia is drawn from the estate's older vines, which inhabit the steeper, limestone-rich slope of the Valdivilla hillside. Three small parcels combine to create a single hectare, which was planted with the old Moscato cultivar Canelli Moscato some 55 years ago, by Sandro's grandfather. Thanks to the vines' age and south-facing exposure, the vines here produce deeply flavored, golden bunches of grapes that gift a power that in turn allows for the wine to be given extended lees contact. The result is a gloriously deep yet vibrant Moscato with both greater textural richness and earthier, smoky mineral impact. This is a unique and compelling version of Piedmont's famous sweet wine, with a creamy texture shot through with limestone cut and hints of lime and jasmine, sage, and wet stones flowing through to the finish.
