From the world’s finest late harvest to a modern classic: Schloss Johannisberg is located in the heart of the Rheingau winegrowing area, a landscape blessed both in terms of climate and soil. In this region the Riesling grape has been exclusively cultivated for over 275 years. The worldwide Riesling renaissance has certainly added momentum to the rise of Schloss Johannisberg wines. Yet their extraordinary success is due mainly to unique climatic and geological conditions, as well as the estate’s dedicated staff. Vineyard and cellar procedures decisively contribute to wine quality – together with controlled and selective hand harvesting, whole cluster pressing, slow fermentation using the wine estate’s own yeast culture, extended lees contact and late bottling. All of these factors, natural and human, result in wines that are second to none in the world.
