Montagne de Reims, the northernmost region of the Champagne region, is most impressive for its high-quality Pinot Noir, because 10 of the 17 Grands Crus in the Champagne region are located in the Hans Mountains. The village of Verzy is one of 17 special villages in the Hans Mountains. Located in the northeast of the Grande Montagne de Reims, it has a unique northeast slope, so the grapes grown here can get the morning light in the morning and prolong the sunshine time, while avoiding the hotter climate on the south slope. The conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly in cool conditions, thereby retaining the clear minerality from the chalky soil and firm acidity. Almost all large-brand wineries in the Champagne region will designate the use of grapes from the Verzy Grand Cru village as part of the base wine when brewing vintage champagne or flagship champagne, providing high-end champagne with sufficient aging strength and wine structure.
