In 1984, at the tender age of 20, Markus Molitor took over his father's winery with a clear aim: to produce Mosel Rieslings under the name "Molitor" in the tradition of eight generations and in the same quality that made the region world-famous 100 years ago. The wines are terroir-specific, unmistakable, and extremely age-able. One of our favorite Mosel producers here at First Bottle! The approx. 24-hectare steep slope with classic southern exposure is our house location in direct connection to the winery. The soil consists of light to medium-heavy, stony, weathered Devonian schist soil with a considerable proportion of iron. The forest at the top of the vineyards ensures an excellent balance of water. The wines from the Wehlener Klosterberg are elegant, classy, with lots of spice and a deep minerality.
