Situated on a steep, east-facing volcanic hillside in the southwestern foothills of Oakville, the Vecina site consistently yields some of the most structured and long-lived expressions in the BOND portfolio. The 2018 vintage benefited from a long, moderate growing season in Napa Valley, allowing for extended hang-time and complete phenolic maturity.
Crafted predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon and matured in selected French oak barrels, this cuvée reflects the brooding intensity and mineral tension of its tuffaceous volcanic soils. It presents an exceptional study in mountain-influenced Napa terroir, defined by formidable tannic architecture and extensive cellar capacity.
Tasting notes
Opaque purple-black in hue. The nose unfolds with brooding aromas of crème de cassis, crushed graphite, espresso bean, and damp earth. On the palate, a full-bodied framework of muscular, fine-grained tannins underpins layers of black plum, cocoa nib, and liquid minerality, concluding with a prolonged, savory finish.
