Château Croizet-Bages, a historic Fifth Growth situated on the gravelly Bages plateau of Pauillac, reflects classic left-bank typicity in the 2012 vintage. The estate’s deep quaternary gravel over clay-limestone subsoils provided excellent drainage during a variable growing season, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon to achieve complete phenolic maturity while retaining natural acidity.
Vinified traditionally and matured in French oak barriques, this 75cl bottling exemplifies the elegant, restrained style of the 2012 campaign. Now entering its prime drinking window, the wine offers an instructive balance between primary dark fruit core and developing tertiary complexity.
Tasting notes
Aromas of blackcurrant, graphite, cigar box, and dried thyme dominate the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained, fully softened tannins supporting flavors of cassis, cedar, and wet earth, concluding with a persistent, savoury finish.
