Situated on gravelly outcrops over limestone in the northern Médoc, Château Potensac benefits directly from the winemaking rigor of the Delon family, owners of Château Léoville Las Cases. The 2012 vintage reflects a classic Left Bank growing season, where a humid spring yielded to a warm, dry late summer, allowing for balanced phenolic maturity and fresh natural acidity.
Composed primarily of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon complemented by Cabernet Franc, the fruit underwent traditional fermentation in temperature-controlled vats followed by aging in French oak barriques. This 75cl bottling showcases the estate's firm structural blueprint, offering a serious, age-worthy expression that demonstrates the authentic terroir and typicity of Ordonnac.
Tasting notes
The nose opens with refined aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, pencil lead, and subtle dried herbs. On the palate, a medium-bodied frame displays crisp acidity and tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Evolving tertiary flavors of dark plum, tobacco, and crushed gravel carry through to a dry, savory, and classically proportioned finish.
