From the esteemed lineage of Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Francois Carillon presents a compelling rendition of Bourgogne Aligoté from the challenging yet rewarding 2021 vintage. While often overshadowed by its Chardonnay counterpart, the Aligoté grape, when handled with the precision and care characteristic of Carillon, yields a wine of remarkable purity and verve.
This regional appellation bottling showcases the inherent typicity of Aligoté: a vibrant acidity, often complemented by a saline minerality and subtle citrus notes. The 2021 growing season, marked by climatic challenges, ultimately produced wines with excellent freshness and tension, qualities perfectly suited to Aligoté's profile. Carillon's approach likely emphasizes preserving this intrinsic freshness, resulting in a wine that is both invigorating and reflective of its Burgundian origins. It serves as an exemplary introduction to the domaine's meticulous craftsmanship and the often-underestimated potential of this noble grape.
