Estate
Glaetzer Wines, Barossa Valley, made by Ben Glaetzer. James Halliday Five Red Star (top 2%).
Region
Barossa Valley — old-vine Shiraz and Cabernet.
Variety & Style
Anaperenna blends Shiraz with Cabernet Sauvignon (the wine was formerly called Godolphin). Shiraz gives flesh and richness; Cabernet adds frame and a firmer finish. The combination has more than a century of history in Australia and is often called the Australian blend.
What to Expect
Positioned below the flagship Amon-Ra but well above entry level. It is the most structurally complete wine in the estate's mid-range — the logical step if you want to know what Glaetzer does but find Amon-Ra too expensive. Only twelve bottles.
Serving
18°C, decant one hour. Aged beef, rack of lamb. Drink through 2035.
