Guy de Chassey, a revered family estate in the Grand Cru village of Bouzy, crafts this exceptional Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs NV. Sourced exclusively from their Pinot Noir parcels on the Montagne de Reims, this cuvée embodies the profound character of its terroir. The 'Blanc de Noirs' designation signifies a composition solely from black grapes, in this instance, 100% Pinot Noir, lending structure and depth. With an 'Extra Brut' dosage, the wine's inherent purity and mineral drive are accentuated, allowing the intricate nuances of Bouzy's chalky soils to express themselves unmasked. Extended lees ageing contributes to its complexity and refined texture, making it a benchmark expression of Grand Cru Pinot Noir Champagne.
Tasting notes
The nose reveals an intricate bouquet of red berries, notably wild cherry and raspberry, interwoven with subtle notes of toasted brioche, almond, and a distinct chalky minerality. On the palate, it presents with remarkable precision and vigour. The Extra Brut dosage allows for a pristine expression of fruit and terroir, underpinned by a vibrant acidity and a fine, persistent mousse. A powerful yet elegant structure unfolds, leading to a long, saline finish that speaks to its Grand Cru origins and the inherent quality of Bouzy Pinot Noir.
