"Mother Vine" refers to a parcel of Shiraz planted in 1853 — among the oldest producing Shiraz vines anywhere in the world. "Monopole" means the site is farmed exclusively by one producer.
Variety & Style
Vines beyond 170 years yield very little, and the fruit is concentrated while remaining balanced. Wines from material like this are usually characterised not by size but by density and length of finish.
What to Expect
This is the most expensive wine in the collection, and what it sells is more than liquid — it is a piece of ground that has been working since 1853. That cannot be replicated and will not increase in supply. With nine years in bottle it can be opened now, but it has a long way to run. Twelve bottles available.
Serving
18°C, decant 1–1.5 hours. Aged beef, lamb, game. Drinking window extends past 2040.
