Domaine Roblet Monnot, under the direction of Pascal Roblet, represents a rigorous biodynamic approach to the steep, iron-rich terraced soils of Pommard. Located on a high-slope Premier Cru site facing southeast, Les Arvelets produces Pinot Noir of unusual finesse alongside Pommard's classic tannic spine.
The 2013 vintage was defined by a cool growing season requiring patient harvesting, resulting in vibrant natural acidity and firm, clear-cut structural tannins. Roblet’s low-intervention winemaking—utilising natural yeasts, minimal SO2, and extended French oak barrel maturation without fining or filtration—allows the ferruginous clay and limestone terroir to express itself with intense mineral precision. Now with over a decade of bottle age, this 1er Cru displays an exceptional balance between dark red fruit focus and evolving tertiary depth.
Tasting notes
Extremely expressive on the nose, offering layers of dried dark cherry, blood orange peel, damp forest floor, and crushed iron ore. On the palate, the 2013 delivers a taut, medium-bodied structure framed by granular, fine-grained tannins and a bright core of redcurrant and earthy spice. The finish is remarkably persistent, driven by savory mineral tension and subtle dried herb notes.
