Viña Errázuriz was founded in 1870 by Don Maximiano Errázuriz who planted vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley north of Santiago. The valley enjoys extended dry season with rains concentrated mainly in winter. The company’s current president is Eduardo Chadwick, the sixth generation of his family to be involved in winemaking. He has brought new winemaking practices and technological modernizations to the family vineyards and has been a very effective promoter of his wines on the international stage. In 2004 Eduardo organized a blind tasting in Berlin, where his most premium wines were tasted along with famous wines from France and Italy. This tasting and similar events held around the world demonstrated that Chilean wines could perform admirably in the most exalted company.
