Estate
Flametree, Margaret River. James Halliday Five Red Star (top 2%). The estate's 2007 debut Cabernet Merlot won the Jimmy Watson Trophy, Australia's most closely watched wine award.
Region
Margaret River is one of Australia's leading Cabernet regions. Maritime moderation ripens tannin without coarseness, and the style is frequently compared to the left bank of Bordeaux.
Variety & Style
Cabernet supplies cassis, cedar and frame; Merlot fills the mid-palate. Medium to full bodied with fine-grained tannin. The blend has decades of history in the region.
What to Expect
This is not the S.R.S. sub-regional tier. It is one of the estate's signature wines, but positioned to be opened without ceremony — ready now, easy with food.
Serving
17–18°C, decant 30 minutes. Red meat, barbecue, hard cheese. Drink through 2030.
