Estate
Glaetzer Wines was founded by the Glaetzer family in 1995 and is made today by Ben Glaetzer. James Halliday Five Red Star (top 2%). The estate's flagship, Amon-Ra, is one of Australia's recognised cult wines.
Region
Barossa Valley — warm, dry, and home to some of the oldest Shiraz and Grenache vines on earth.
Variety & Style
Shiraz supplies structure and dark fruit; Grenache adds red fruit and a softer mouthfeel. In the Barossa this pairing is traditional, and its purpose is to make the wine approachable earlier without losing weight. Wallace sits in the estate's drink-now tier, with restrained oak.
What to Expect
This is the entry point to Glaetzer, not Amon-Ra. Its strength is completeness and consistency at the price — not complexity or cellaring. Buy it to drink within two or three years.
Serving
16–18°C, open 30 minutes ahead. Roast meats, short rib, lamb, robustly flavoured Chinese dishes.
