Ratafia champenois is made from Champagne grape must whose fermentation is stopped by adding Champagne grape spirit, so the grapes' natural sweetness stays in the wine. It gained Geographical Indication status in 2016.
Champagne Henri Giraud, from the Grand Cru village of Aÿ, makes its Ratafia as a solera of Pinot Noir (70%) and Chardonnay (30%), drawing on wines from 1990 to 2016, aged in small toasted Argonne oak barrels. The label reads S 90-16.
500ml, in gift box. Serve chilled after dinner or with dessert.
