The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is a very rare bird. It emerges from the old blocks of head-trained vines in MacDonald, fruit John Kongsgaard was able to purchase just in this vintage to compensate for a total lack of crop in his estate vineyards. Dense, powerful, explosive, the 2020 offers up black fruit, graphite, spice, incense and licorice, all farmed by huge tannin. It is a wine of the vintage, with all of its imperfections. I can’t wait to see how it ages.
