Quinta dos Aciprestes, situated on the steep schistous slopes of the Douro valley near the confluence of the Tua and Douro rivers, represents one of Real Companhia Velha's prized single estates. The 2020 Reserva highlights the exceptional synergy of low-yielding Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca vines planted on classic Douro terraces, benefiting from intense solar exposure balanced by cooler river microclimates.
Vinified with temperature-controlled fermentation and matured in French oak barriques, this vintage exhibits the hallmark tension between ripe black fruit density and stony mineral drive. The wine demonstrates remarkable structural integrity, backed by fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity that assure both immediate complexity and graceful cellaring potential over the next eight to ten years.
Tasting notes
Saturated ruby-purple in color. The nose opens with expressive aromas of ripe black plum, cassis, and crushed violet, underscored by hints of cedar, graphite, and subtle baking spice from French oak maturation. On the palate, it is full-bodied and impeccably structured, offering layers of dark berry reduction, dark chocolate, and a distinct schistous minerality. Ripe, tightly woven tannins frame a long, dry, and elegant finish with persistent notes of cocoa and savory herbs.
