The Cote du Rhone Santa Duc famille Gras Vieilles Vignes has blends of old vines planted in several cool areas of the southern Côtes-du-Rhône. Each soil origin: Sands, Marls and Red Clays contributes to the final picture. the grape varieties are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Counoise and Carignan. the aging is done by maturity controls and tasting of the berries guide the date of the harvest. The grapes are sorted and destemmed when they arrive in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Pumping over and pigeage allow a gentle extraction. The wines are racked after devatting and malolactic fermentation, in stainless steel tanks for more fruit and aromatic freshness. The tasting notes of this medium-bodied wine offer a beautiful aromatic freshness with notes of black fruits and kirsch, pepper and garrigue, embellished with some notes of undergrowth. To be consumed during its first 2-3 years. Sixth generation of the Gras family , Benjamin has been working hand in hand with his father since 2017. Oenologist graduated from the University of Burgundy in Dijon, he is enriched by several experiences within prestigious wine estates such as the Domaine de la Romanée- Conti and the Bodega Vega-Sicilia. The OIV MSc in Wine Management program gives him the extraordinary opportunity to visit 28 wine-producing countries and thus interact with his peers around the world. This experience reinforces his convictions and his admiration for the know-how and excellence of the best estates: working as close as possible to nature and expressing all the uniqueness of each terroir through an approach by locality. He thus continues to conduct organic farming, converts the entire Domaine to biodynamics in the fall of 2016 and redesigns a range highlighting local terroirs.
