Ashton Hills Estate Pinot Noir 2022 (1x75cl)
Ashton Hills Estate Pinot Noir 2022 (1x75cl)
Estate
Ashton Hills was founded in the Adelaide Hills' Piccadilly Valley by Stephen George in 1982 and was among the first Australian estates to focus on Pinot Noir. James Halliday Five Red Star (top 2%). It has been owned by Wirra Wirra since 2015, with the vineyards and style unchanged.
Region
Piccadilly Valley is the highest and coolest corner of the Adelaide Hills and the only part of South Australia widely accepted as capable of serious Pinot Noir.
Variety & Style
Estate is the core wine. Typical cool-climate Pinot: red cherry, raspberry, a little earth and spice, fine tannin, light to medium body, bright acidity.
What to Expect
Pinot Noir is not a powerful variety; it is a detailed one. If you normally drink Shiraz or Cabernet, the first sip will read as thin — that is the variety, not the vintage.
Serving
14–16°C — Pinot suffers when served warm. Large glass. Salmon, duck, mushrooms, roast chicken. Cellars 8 years.
