Chateau d'Armailhac 2000 (1x75cl)

Château d'Armailhac, a distinguished Fifth Growth Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac, represents a compelling expression of Bordeaux's Left Bank. Situated on the renowned gravelly soils characteristic of the appellation, its vineyards benefit from excellent drainage and sun exposure, contributing to the profound concentration and structure of its wines.

The 2000 vintage is celebrated as a benchmark year for Bordeaux, yielding wines of exceptional balance and longevity. Under the meticulous stewardship of the Baron Philippe de Rothschild family, d'Armailhac is crafted with a blend predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine undergoes traditional vinification followed by an extended maturation period in French oak, allowing for the harmonious integration of fruit, tannin, and oak influence. This particular bottling showcases the vintage's capacity for graceful evolution, presenting a wine that is both mature and poised for further development.

Tasting notes

The 2000 Château d'Armailhac presents a captivating aromatic profile, revealing classic Pauillac notes of cedar, cigar box, and graphite, interwoven with mature blackcurrant, dark plum, and a hint of forest floor. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a refined structure. The tannins, now beautifully integrated, provide a velvety texture, supporting a core of dark fruit, savoury earth, and subtle spice. The finish is long and persistent, echoing the wine's complexity and demonstrating its elegant maturity.
