Castello Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2013 (1x75cl)
Castello Romitorio winery is made up of three separate properties of which the flagship is the 187-hectare estate in Montalcino, Italy. The two other properties are: Poggio di Sopra with 8 hectares of vineyards, also in Montalcino and Scansano with 11 hectares of vineyards. Castello Romitorio is owned by the renowned artist Sandro Chia, who spent years carefully restoring the property after acquiring it in 1984, with art and wine being created simultaneously and inseparably one from the other. The Chia family’s winemaking philosophy has evolved into a strict adherence to the pursuit of excellence at any cost and an absolute belief in quality over quantity. This philosophy has led the family to embrace only the great D.O.C.G.’s and D.O.C.’s of the estates. The best example of this is the 2006’s 3000 square meter cantina located within the castle. The cantina unites the two great interests of wine and fine art in a totally unique and fascinating setting. Monolithic sculptures stand next to barrels and barriques from which the Castle’s wine flows. Chia in fact says that the wine is meant to reflect the owner’s dedication to artistic perfection.
