Cusumano Catarratto, a wine produced from one of the best native white grapes of the Sicilian wine landscape, shows a beautiful straw yellow color and a typical bouquet of orange blossom, jasmine, aromatic herbs, citrus notes and white berried fruit.
On the palate it impresses with its beautiful acidity, excellently balanced by fruity notes and a mineral finish.
Curiosities about the "Catarratto" grape
In ancient times the "Catarratto" typical of the Trapani area was used, together with the grillo and the insolia, to produce the famous "Marsala" wine. After the crisis of Marsala wine, this autochthonous variety was almost abandoned, preferring to cultivate international varieties in its place only for the pure commercial purpose. Only in recent years, with the tendency to re-evaluate native vines, the Catarratto regained the podium of the Sicilian white vines par excellence and the producers, who are lucky enough to try their hand with this vine, are managing to show all the potential of it is endowed with this vine and consequently it is increasingly appreciated both nationally and internationally.
