On the hillside of a limestone cliff overlooking the Loire, the Closiers estate is located in Parnay, in the heart of the appellation. The estate's plots express all the richness and nobility of the Saumur Champigny terroir, thanks to the nobility of its soils. Since 2019, Nady Foucault, emblematic winegrower of Clos Rougeard, and Michel Chevré, of Clos de l'Ecotard, have actively advised the estate.
The 2019 “Expression” cuvée comes from beautiful plots of Cabernet Franc, entirely destemmed, vinified and aged for 6 months in stainless steel vats. Hence its name, it perfectly illustrates the expression of the terroir and the typicities of the grape variety, giving a fine, mineral and fruity wine.
We immediately dive into the world of great Loire red wines with this wine mixing race and delicacy with accuracy and precision. The color illuminates with its intense garnet color. The bouquet, both subtle and complex, exudes scents of fresh hay, aromas of black and red fruits with notes of mint and liquorice. Elegant and suave, the palate presents a supple texture, with a grain of very fine tannins. The finish reveals explosive fruit on a striking mineral structure. A Saumur-Champigny as we like them!
