Wild Duck Creek Estate was planted in Heathcote by David Anderson in 1980 and is known internationally for its Duck Muck Shiraz. James Halliday Five Star (top 10%).

Heathcote is defined by Cambrian soil — a weathered volcanic red earth roughly 500 million years old with unusual water-holding capacity, and among the most highly regarded red-wine soils in Australia.
